77. People Review : Nishadh Chandra : The man who is always by my side

Image
Where do I start to describe this man? I don't exactly know from where so I will start from any random point.  He is one of the few clean hearted people I have ever met in my life. I first met him in 2011 when he was doing music for a director I was assisting back then. We never had a close one to one chat back then. four years later, in the second half of 2015, he messaged me out-of-blue on facebook that he was making a music video and whether I was interested in directing it. It was a free gig and he was also doing it as a favor to one of his friend. I don’t normally do free shoots anymore in Mumbai but somehow I said yes because frankly, I wanted to meet him. He has always been extra nice to me and had once helped me in the background music of one of my short films. We met and we gelled instantly. To know about his background, he is the son of Legendary singer Poornima, who started her career with R.D. Burman. His mother was a big name during 90s bollywood era a...

70. Fifteen Unethical But Practical Rules For Actors About Successfully Struggling In Mumbai.

Image
"Two Men looked out of prison Bar, one saw mud and other saw Star" One of my Actor Friends once told me a story about Mohammad Gauri (I hope I am remembering the name correctly) that when he came to India, he came with boats through sea and when all his soldiers landed in India, he ordered to burn all the boats. He was asked the reason by one of his ministers and he told him that if the boats will be there, the soldiers will  have a dubious state of mind as they will be having an option of safe return in mind because of which they won't give their complete efforts in war. But now since the boats are burned, they are left with only one direction to proceed with one single aim, win the war or die. There is no option of retreat for them.  On that note; Here are Fifteen things that may help you in your struggle. 1.      First and foremost rule, start calling yourself an Actor. If you are embarrassed about your profession or your passion, you can never be an a...

65. Ten things that you can learn from Charlie Harper about Life.

Image
Optimism. Charlie Harper is one of the most optimist guy you will ever meet. He never talks negative and negative things never happen to him. Even when Negative things happen to him, he never clings to them, unlike Alan who makes mountain out of molehills of everything happening to him. In one of the episodes, Charlie gets bankrupt and Alan kept asking him to do something about it while Charlie keeps on repeating that “Something will turn up” and something does turn up soon. Life is always good. Charlie doesn’t’ care to see the other side of life. He enjoys his life and that is his basic goal of life. He brings girls to his place, enjoys his scotch, watch TV whole day, work for a while in the evening, go out again for girl hunting and come back with either a girl or a prostitute. He only sees good things in life and ignores things that irritates him. He never looks at poverty or depressing news channels. He enjoys small things in life. He even watches Teleshopping channel. H...

60. The secret road to success.

Image
Did you ever wonder why there are only few people who get success and that you are not one of them? Did you ever stop to think what these few people know that you don’t? Today, I am going to tell you what that one thing is that all these people had which turned them into a winner. Hard work is the key to success, my teacher said that when I was in class third. He was wrong. You may feel that you do all kinds of hard work but still the results have not been in your favor. Your best friend you had in your junior class who was way far behind you, now earns more and leads a happy life. People far worse than you had suddenly shot up to rich and fame and you don’t understand why because you are still where you started with few promotions and success to your credit and with a bank balance that looks like a stand up comedian’s act. So here is one curiosity, are you doing hard work. Well, my first advice is, stop doing it. The truth is that you don’t ha...

37. Amitabh Bachchan teaches that greatness is neither talent nor fluke... it's core hard work !!

I love Amitabh Bachchan. Everyone loves Amitabh Bachchan. I know he is a hard working guy. I meet many people everyday who tell me inside stories of film industry, most repeated and asked being, how does actors behave on sets. One of my friends, Raashul Tandon, who worked in Pink with Amitabh Bachchan, he was one of the four boys who play culprit, told me that no one one set was as had working as Amitabh Bachchan. Even during lunch he would go back to his vanity rehearse lines. Piyush Mishra, another co-star of his in the film never worked hard because he had already decided for himself that he is a great actor and would fumble a lot during scenes, but Bachchan would always give one take OK shot. Amitabh Bachchan is very time punctual and I have witnessed that in my real life. He is hard working and you would be surprised to know that he has no PR team to look after his facebook , blog and Twitter accounts, he does that all to himself. He told that himself to My friend Raashul when he...

31. Delivering happiness - Zappos Story - A must read book.

Image
The best thing I liked about this biography which tells you about the birth of a Company i it's humorous writing. It is a very interesting read. It is more of a biography of Tony Hsieh and his life and unlike the last book that i read about Jia Jang, he doesn't mention his personal life too much. He only reveals as much personal life as is necessary, only those parts that are connected somewhere with the story and birth of Zappos.  Tony Hsieh started his humble journey, which is not so humble because he was a topper throughout and a Harvard graduate which means he already had his mind int he right place. The good thing about him was that he was ready to take risks, he would read a lot of books, he had a great set of people around and he was thoroughly a great optimistic person. He was charged for success. He writes this book like good things happen to hum and he wasn't expecting them. It was his positive nature.  Tony Hsieh didn't actually create Zappos, he was ...

30. The seminar in which i slept.

I won't name the person but i am just back from a seminar and the seminar was on power of thinking, subconscious mind but during the lectures both my conscious and subconscious mind slept heavy sleep because the man who was giving seminar was giving it like he was teaching kids at fourth class. As per his story, he was an IITan who left his lucrative job, to do these seminars because he wants to change people's life. He was telling the same things that i have been reading for last three years, so one of the reasons why i was sleeping was because I knew what he was telling. However, I have listened to the same things again and again and I never get bored. Like there is a speaker called Les Brown and he is so energetic and enthusiastic that you feel excited as he you listen to him. Same goes with Tony Robbins who puts all his energy into his seminars. This man in his seminars was actually making everyone sleep. I looked around once to find out and realized that everyone was int...

29. The Ted talk about rejection that will change your life.

Image
It was a random day for me. I got up at normal time and then i messaged an ad film director whom i have send my showreel that how he felt about it. I met this ad film director two days ago and he gave me some very valuable advises. His name is Suresh Triveni and he has directed hundreds of ads including that Famous Mauka Mauka Ad during world cup. He is also making a film with Vidya Balan so he has left Ad film world for a while. He asked me to send him my showreel and i was really happy to send it to him. He saw it after i messaged him and he asked me to send him my showreel which i did but i guess he didn't like it and messaged back that it wasn't advertising material. For some unknown reasons i wasn't demotivated reading about his rejection to my showreel instead i took it as a challenge to prove to him that before he will finish his film, i will be directing ad films for all brands and i will be touted as the busiest ad film director in the Mumbai. I will out of my ...

25. Getting up in the morning

The toughest thing that i have to do in my life is getting up int he morning. I have planned to get up at 5 in the morning and 6 in the morning but nothing seems to work. I can't get up through mind power techniques or alarm clock, the only thing that awakes me are mosquitoes. Yes there are so many blood sucking mosquitoes in my room that they wake me up in the morning. I don't know where they have come from but nothing works on them. No odomos or good night. I think they must have a science lab of their own where they are working towards how to reduce the effects of mosquito repellents. I love early mornings. It makes me feel that my days are bigger. But the days when i get up very early in the morning, I feel sleepy after two hours which defies the whole purpose of getting up int he morning. Still i would suggest that get up in the morning and do some exercise because it makes your whole day a little energetic and your thoughts a little positive.
