34.How I am planning to enter into Ad film world

It is not easy. First and foremost. Contact people as much as you can and meet them. Nothing will seem to happen at first but you will find your way. I have never directed an ad film but i have been on ad film sets as assistant art director and i know how to shoot ad films. So i was trying giving my resumes to ad film production houses and meeting advertising house, i also showed them my showreels but it produced no result. The problem with many production houses is that they produce in house ad films which is bad for independent film makers like me.

During my course of meeting these film people, I met Parikshit Vaidya ( on whom I am going to dedicate an entire blog post soon). He was one of the most sorted man i have ever seen in my life. We became friends because he is an avid animal lover and you can talk to him at lengths about animals and loving them. He loves stray dogs and cats and he will leave no stone unturned to help them and i have witnessed one incidence myself. He gave me many advises about how i can enter into ad film world. His journey was very simple and he assisted many ad film directors for many years before he ventured into independent ad film business himself launching his own production house. He told me hat you have too meet a lot of people and befriend lot of agency guys before they will build trust in you and give you their first film. Next i met Mr. Suresh Triveni who is again a very sorted guy who met me like a real professional and i was so nervous in front of him because of his personality and dusky voice. His advice was also very helpful as he told me that if you go to meet an agency as a director then probably you will never be able to influence them, rather meet them as producer or take a producer with you.

Now i wondered where would i find the producer, I tried but I failed. A day ago i had got a meet at Ogilvy and and i was wondering what would i show him because i am a director and i have no producer. Suresh Triveni saw my profile and politely told me that my showreel was not that good. No i had to think about an alternative and the alternative came to me today morning when i was taking a bath. Why can't i present myself as producer? I can get a panel of directors and present myself as director. The thought excited me and i saw a road in front of me. I can become a producer and pick a film. I started calling few directors whom i have met during my struggle days and asked them to send me their showreels. One of them did and now i am off to meeting.

My target is to get an ad film, I don't care whether to produce or to direct, but i will get an ad films by March 20. The deadline is approaching near and i have to start working fast and meet more people.
